The architectural form of the school group constitutes a strong signal at the entrance of the ZAC de la Soie in Villeurbanne thanks to the appealing effect created by its highest volume.
The fragmented volumetry of the building fits into the urban context and embodies the program it houses: the youngest children in the lower volumes, while the older children occupy the higher volumes. The interior layout is also designed according to the evolution and codes of childhood. The interior courtyards develop in layers and are completed by hanging gardens.
The strength of the project lies in its facade, it skin that is both porous and protective with a very strong identity. The work of the artist Pauline Guerrier, “Rien ne s’efface” (Nothing Fades), composed of brick projections, evokes the memories of Simone Veil. It forms an original arborescent graphic design and emphasizes the essential role of educational institutions in the transmission of values and knowledge.
