A saturated underwater home and research center, this new generation of underwater habitat, completely self-sufficient thanks to a surface energy buoy, follows on from NASA and NOAA’s Neemo extreme environment training programme to study with astronauts and aquanauts the similarities between the world of space and the underwater world off the coast of Key Largo in Florida, USA.
Designed to accommodate aquanauts and astronauts for long-term stays of 3 to 6 months, its aluminium hull is suspended between two waters at depths that can vary according to the program from minus 12m to minus 100m and is positioned thanks to a mobile ballast.
Developed to participate in the training of crews scheduled to live in future lunar and Martian bases, this concept also integrates a complete underwater living base with Aquabulles, underwater garages and renewable energy platform.
