Halfway between the historic center of Vitrolles and its industrial zone, the site is part of a mixed fabric of individual houses and denser housing estates. The three distinct complexes – social housing, offices, and a hostel for young workers – are articulated around an ornamental garden that allows the three programmatic entities to coexist and be set apart.
To facilitate the integration of the project into the neighbourhood, the buildings are treated as individual houses superimposed on each other and not as collective buildings so as to match the scale of the neighbouring dwellings. All the dwellings have terraces arranged in such a way as to avoid facing each other, as well as a double orientation.
